Mitchell Gordon (Lecturer)
I’ve just started at MIT as a new professor, and I’m excited to be teaching 6.1040 as my first course! There’s never been a more interesting time to think about how to design software.
My research bridges human-computer interaction and AI, particularly focused on alignment and safety problems. Come talk to me if that sounds cool!
Daniel Jackson (Lecturer)
I’m very excited to be teaching 6.1040 again this term. I’m especially excited about the new AI components in the class. I love interacting with students, especially talking about design, so don’t be shy! When I’m not working on my research in software design or my teaching, I like to do photography.
Amber Horvath (Honorary Instructor)
Eagon Meng (TA)
I’m a PhD student working with Daniel to make software simpler. Usually, you’ll find me either in a hammock or yelling at the clouds about the self-inflicted headache we call technology. I enjoy thinking about how to sneak human-first agendas into everything, and my path has taken me from helping surgeons listen to the brain during surgery (on an actual speaker), to interactive art in Japan. Do drop by - I’d love to meet you!
Iris Yang (TA)
Hi all! My name is Iris, and I’ll be one of your TA’s this semester. I took this course last fall as a senior, and it was one of my favorite classes during my four years at MIT. Outside of classes, you’ll find me in the gym or out and about exploring the Boston food scene. Looking forward to a wonderful semester ahead!
Ane Zuniga (TA)
Hello! I’m Ane (she/her), a PhD student at the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department. My research focuses on developing scalable, reliable, and responsible AI. Outside the lab, I enjoy hiking, skiing, sailing on the Charles, and experimenting with new recipes at home.
Erin Liu (TA)
Hi!! I’m Erin, currently an MEng in 6-4, previously an undergrad in 6-4 and 9. I took 6.1040 in Fall 2023 and I had a really fun time! Very happy to revisit the content and learn alongside everyone all the cool new things Daniel and Mitchell have in store for us. A fun fact about me is that I love Snoopy!
Carolina Moura Valle Costa (UTA)
Brianna Roundtree (UTA)
Hi everyone! My name is Brianna and I am a Course 6-3 senior. I took 6.1040 in Fall 2024 and really loved the course, so I’m excited to TA the course and work with you all! A little about me – I am an avid music listener and like to explore different cuisines. Looking forward to meeting and working with everyone this semester!
Tiana Jiang (UTA)
Hey everyone! My name is Tiana, and I’m a senior in 6-3. A fun fact about me is that I love fruit! They say that an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but I’m at the point where I eat so much fruit that the doctor might have to come back. Just kidding. But anyways, super excited to meet you all and help you along the awesome journey of 6.104!
